| Strategic Planning
Situation:
- Client had been unprofitable for the past several years, and recently recruited a new President to turn things around
- Existing management team had limited experience with formal strategic and business planning, and new President was occupied developing and implementing several mission critical tactical programs to stop the profitability drain
- Despite the above, global management had made it clear their expectation was to have a profitable operation in Canada
B&A’s Solution:
- Formulate and take a leadership role in developing a formal 3 year strategic plan for the business that would restore profitability
- Included co-managing an internal team of staff members, working through a rigorous SWOT analysis, complete financial modeling of proposed strategic scenario’s and formal presentations to the global management team
Result:
- Successfully developed a go forward strategy that would restore the company to profitability within one year and at the same time grow market share and revenue
- It is interesting to note that due to changes in the organizations global management team the proposed plan was not implemented
- Instead the company maintained the status quo, and (unfortunately) continued to experience losses (as the financial model we had built predicted would happen in this scenario)
